Wolf Hall Costumes Go On Display At Berkeley Castle

– Opulent Attire and Tudor Day –

This April, Berkeley Castle will present an exclusive Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light costume exhibition, showcasing six stunning costumes worn by acclaimed actors from the celebrated TV series. Step into the world of Tudor England and admire the exquisite craftsmanship of these historically inspired garments, which bring to life the drama and intrigue of Hilary Mantel’s masterpiece. Berkeley Castle itself was a filming location for Wolf Hall, making this exhibition even more special as you stand in the very spaces where key scenes were shot.

The exhibit runs when the castle is open every Sunday – Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from March 30 – April 30, 2025, including Easter bank holiday weekend.

Visitors can catch sight of King Henry VIII and his six queens on Saturday, April 13 when Tudor Day brings living history performers to the castle for an immersive experience to complement the exhibition. Walk in the footsteps of Damian Lewis (Henry VIII), Mark Rylance (Thomas Cromwell), Anne Boleyn and other Tudor characters wandering the grounds, telling their stories and re-enacting the drama of the Tudor dynasty.

The Wolf Hall costume exhibition and Tudor Day are both included in the standard admission ticket to the castle, which costs £16 for adults and £8 for children aged three to 16. Children under three go free.

There’s also a stunning mural on display in the Morning Room, painted specifically for Wolf Hall, that’s sure to be a point of interest for film, TV and history enthusiasts alike.
