Damian Lewis Attended Film and TV Charity Reception at Buckingham Palace Among Royalty

– From One King to Another –

Damian attended a reception hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla to mark the centenary celebration of the Film and TV Charity at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in London, England, which included the premiere of Gladiator II.

As we all know Damian is currently portraying King Henry VIII in the final installment of Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light on BBC, which made for an opportune time for Damian to cheekily joke with King Charles: “At least you can claim not to be related to him,” to which the King laughed and replied, “You are fantastic in it.”

Damian told the King, “You look well” and the King replied, “I try…I’m 76 tomorrow!” Damian also revealed to the King that he had watched Queen Camilla’s documentary Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors.

Other famous stars and attendees included Ben Kingsley, Sir Ridley Scott, Emily Mortimer, Henry Golding and Lucian Laviscount.

The Film and TV Charity was founded in 1924 as the Cinematograph Trade Benevolent Fund to help people working in the screen industries to overcome a spectrum of personal and professional challenges. The King became Patron of the Film and Television Charity succeeding Queen Elizabeth II, who had held the patronage since 1952.
