– On the Trading Floor for Cure EB
and HvH Arts Foundation –
Damian makes trading look easy as he participates in the annual BGC Charity Day 2024 on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Canary Wharf located at One Churchill Place in London, England for CureEB (alongside founder Sharmila Collins) and Sir Hubert von Herkomer Arts Foundation (alongside CEO Debbi Clark). He was among other celebrities helping raise money for various charities for the 23rd anniversary of 9/11. You can view more photos from the event in our Gallery.
Damian is the Patron of two local organizations that he raises money for:
The HvH Arts Foundation gives inspiration to a generation of young people by offering a gateway to the arts with free access to highly skilled workshops to harness and develop lifelong artistic passions. The foundation provides courses designed to deliver a route through the often prohibitive costs that comes with studying the arts for young people, as well as free after-school, weekend, and holiday tuition for vulnerable children and youth. Donations support their summer holiday programs which provides art, music, photography, film, sculpture, illustration, dance and drama workshops every day during summer break. Their Music Mentoring Project supports young gifted and talented musicians with resources associated with live band or music studio. The HvH Arts Foundation sponsors The McCrory Award, an annual grant and mentorship gifted to 3-4 students in honor of Helen McCrory, a patron and friend of the Sir Hubert von Herkomer Arts Foundation.
CureEB is an organization that supports those affected by epidermolysis bullosa, a severe genetic skin condition that leads to blistering and skin loss at the slightest friction. Children with the condition are often referred to as ‘Butterfly Children’ as their skin is said to be as fragile as a butterfly’s wings.
Every year, in conjunction with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund and GFI Group, BGC Partners commemorate their 658 friends and colleagues and 61 Eurobrokers employees who perished on September 11, 2001, by distributing 100% of their global revenues on Charity Day to the Relief Fund and many charities worldwide. Since its inception, the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund has raised approximately $357 million globally.
In addition to BGC’s offices in London, Charity Day 2024 took place across the firm’s international offices including, New York, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo and Sydney.
Each anniversary is a poignant occasion for the group. Charity Day is their way of turning a tragic day into one that is positive and uplifting by helping others.
