– African Safari + Cornwall –
Damian and his children Manon and Gulliver enjoyed a summer holiday together in August, 2024 prior to London’s autumn school term beginning September 5, 2024. Damian shared stunning photography on his Instagram account marking their vacation spots in Zambia and Polzeath.
Zambia is a country that sits at the crossroads of Central, Southern and Eastern Africa, and contains an abundance of natural resources, including wildlife, forestry, waterfalls, lakes and rivers. The Rhodesian giraffe and Kafue lechwe are some of the well-known subspecies endemic to Zambia. With Damian’s second album due out later this year, we wonder if he immersed himself in the Zamrock music – a musical genre that emerged in the 1970’s described as mixing traditional Zambian music with heavy repetitive riffs similar to groups such as, Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Deep Purple and Cream.
Next up was Polzeath, a small seaside resort village in the St. Minver parish of Cornwall, England. Its sandy beach is popular with holiday-ers and surfers alike. Dolphins are sometimes spotted in the bay and many types of birds circle the coastline just north of Polzeath. Who wouldn’t mind seeing the occasional puffin nesting on the offshore islands? There is a main street that runs along the seafront with a parade of shops, including pubs, cafes, and restaurants, with a caravan site and several camping sites in the area. Sounds like the perfect haunt for poet laureates.
What a well-deserved holiday! Now, back to the grind…
