Actor, producer, presenter and now music star, Damian Lewis appeared on BBC The One Show on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. BST for a live performance of his song ‘My Little One’ and discussion with Alex and Gethin about his new debut album Mission Creep. Damian was on vocals with his acoustic guitar while Kitty Live was on harmonica, Dave Archer on electric guitar and Phil Donnelly on bass. During the interview, Alex asked Damian which artists, either dead or alive, he would have as his headliners at Glastonbury Festival. He replied: “Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys- who I saw at the Emirates this week. They were amazing, they’re fantastic.”
As Wales Online reported, Alex Jones asked Damian the deep question: “Leading man or front man. Which makes you feel more vulnerable?” To which Damian replied, “Are you ready for my deep answer? I think any artist offering anything to the public places themself in a position of vulnerability. Whether you’re a novelist, a poet, a songwriter, an actor…so, they’re all vulnerable positions you put yourself in. As soon as you are offering something, dare I even say it gifting something, there’s always a chance somebody will just say ‘nah, I don’t like it, take it back’.”
He was then asked what his children thought of his segway into music. Damian shared, “They’re very sweet and supportive. It’s like they’ve become much more mature than me because they’re being polite. They’re being really lovely.” He added how kids, when they’re younger, don’t want you really to be an actor or a popstar, but simply a dad cab.
