Damian Lewis went back to his roots by giving an acting class at his old school yesterday (Kat Lay writes).

Pupils at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where the Homeland star studied from 1990-1993, benefited from a masterclass on TV acting, with two of them put through their paces in front of a video camera before a Q&A session.

Lewis, 41, won a Golden Globe best actor award last week for his portrayal of the traitor Nicholas Brody in the hit US series. He received an Emmy for the same role, which he will reprise in a third series.

The actor has spoken before about his time at Guildhall. “I was whipped into shape by a few people I thought I knew more about life than, but didn’t,” he said.
