It’s official: NBC has picked up Life! ➡
Damian should be at Rockefeller Center on Monday when NBC officially unveils its fall prime-time line-up!
» The Hollywood Reporter “NBC picks up four dramas; ‘Friday’ back”
» New York Times “NBC Orders Five Dramas for Next Season”
» Guardian “Upfronts: US TV networks unveil their fall 2007 line-ups”
So what does this mean? NBC has made an initial commitment to 13 episodes. However if ratings are not good, they can cut it and based on the production contract, film only 6 episodes, for instance. If it does well in its time period, the “back 9” will be picked up by mid-November to complete a full season of 22 episodes. Now if it doesn’t do so well, but it gets good critical acclaim and NBC believes in it, it has a chance of still staying on the schedule like the drama Friday Night Lights did this year. More details should come Monday, but assuming it’s a fall show, shooting should start in early to mid-August (unless there’s a writers strike).
